July 2021

From our Children and Youth Director

WOW! I can’t believe our VBS is just a few weeks
away! I always looked forward to VBS as a child, even
more so as an adult to get a break from my own children (lol).
But God told me break time is over; time to
get to work! I truly am excited about it. I have been
praying for double the amount of children to attend
which would be around 40 compared to our previous years of less
than 20 Children. Please take a VBS flyer located by the mailboxes
and invite relatives, neighbors and friends to this great outreach
event. Andy made an easy registration page on our church website
so we hopefully have that aspect of VBS running much smoother this
year. This year will be a lot of trial and error, but I know with so much
support and volunteers we have on board that it will be a fantastic
event. What we do need to be prayerful of and consider is how can
we follow up with these families after VBS is finished so that they feel
welcomed to be a regular part of our Church. Please continue to
pray and brainstorm about ways we can make this VBS be a wonderful community
success and by success I mean spread the gospel to children who possibly
never got to hear it! Lets be a beacon of hope in these dark times and
invite all to partake in such an uplifting event!
Am I worthy of the calling? I will be honest; I have struggled with
those doubts the past few months. I feel I have put more pressure on
myself than needed at times to be “better” rather then just basking in
the grace of God. It helped me to be reminded by my mentor that
none of us are worthy and never will be, we just decided to answer
His call. Bible verses are helpful to remind us that we ALL struggle with
sin and fall short of the glory of God. When I am walking in His love -
that I know covers a multitude of sins - that is when I am better. When
I try to do things on my own and put the love Jesus has for me on the
back burner in my mind and heart, that’s when I fall the hardest. This
Bible verse was highlighted by the Holy Spirit last week when I was
reading and I hope it can empower you as it did me. “For I am the
least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I
persecuted the church of God. BUT by God’s grace I am what I am,
and His grace toward me was not ineffective. However, I worked
more than any of them, yet not I, but God’s grace that was with me.”
1 Corinthians 15:9-10 If God changed Saul into Paul, think of what He
can do for you. God’s grace is endless and knows no bounds unlike
our human minds and limitations. I will be trying to be better at simply
receiving this free and wonderful gift of his grace, and I hope you do
the same. Jess Rockey
